How Content Writers Are Dealing With SEO Updates?
So, there was a new Google core update recently.
If you are in the blogging world then you might be already knowing about it.
Google as a search engine is bringing new updates every now and then. They had a core update in May 2020 that affected thousands of websites.
Whenever there comes a Google update, website owners start to react in a bitter way. The owners that have outsourced content writing and SEO work to agencies, they start to have a lot of doubts. The credibility of the people is questioned.
Now, the question that arises is, how they all deal with it?
How content writers deal with these core updates coming every now and then?
Content writers are questioned because when the rankings drops, a lot of people think that their content is not of quality. They assume that the writer might be copying stuff from the Internet and Google finally found that out.
When we started working in the industry, we were also questioned a lot of time and in this article we will share the tips to deal with this thing in the best possible manner.
First of all, let us understand that why these Google updates happen and how do they affect the websites.
As per Google on their blog, They usually bring new updates every day to their algorithms. But, in an year, they also bring new core updates that are the changes in their own way of judging any website. That means Google changes the way of looking at the websites and judging their quality.
They also state this on their blog:
As explained, pages that drop after a core update don’t have anything wrong to fix. This said, we understand those who do less well after a core update change may still feel they need to do something. We suggest focusing on ensuring you’re offering the best content you can. That’s what our algorithms seek to reward.
That means that the updates have nothing to do with any wrong tactic but the overall judgement done by Google. For example, if Google was giving X value to a particular type of backlinks and then it starts to give it a value Y, then the whole SERP would change accordingly.
You as a content writer would have to explain the same thing to your website owners. These core updates just change the SERP for everyone and are not based on any individual website. To get things back on track, you will have to start working from scratch and understand the things that were working pretty well for you.
And, now after the updates, what is working for the websites that are doing good on Search. Compare the factors and start working on the website in a new way.
For this to work well, you will have to make your clients aware about each and everything. Not all clients are technical sound and thus it is your responsibility to help the understand things in a better way.
We hope that this would help you save your self from getting the taunts from your content clients. If you have any queries, do share them in the comments.
